Dxoink would like to know more about the PBA’s charity works, other offcourt activities and the 34th season theme song.

Although it hasn’t been reported as much, the PBA has done a lot of outreach activities all over the country and continues to do so. Just last weekend, the league joined hands with Gawad Kalinga in one of its projects with some PBA stars gracing the occasion.

This is not the first time the PBA has partnered with Gawad Kalinga. In the past, the league bankrolled the building and painting of homes. GK activities have in fact been a regular part of the PBA All-Star celebrations with players helping in the construction and painting of homes in the provinces.

Also just recently, the PBA spearheaded relief missions to the victims of typhoon Ondoy. Thousands of bags of food and beverage were distributed to typhoon-ravaged areas in Pasig, Muntinlupa, Marikina and Antipolo.

The past season, Children’s Hour was one of the league’s charity work beneficiaries. The PBA donated P100 for every point scored in the last two minutes of every game played in the 2008-09 Season.

During the annual All-Star Week, aside from the GK projects, players and league personalities go around the host cities to visit hospitals and orphanages to bring bags of goodies, as well as smiles, to our needy, sick and unfortunate kababayans. In fact, it was during a hospital visit in Negros Occidental last April where Marc Pingris, upon seeing the sick children, took money out of his own pocket to buy them snacks and even gave one patient a certain amount for his medicines and other expenditures. Because of his generosity, Pingris was given by commissioner Sonny Barrios a plaque as a league Ambassador of Goodwill.

Other outreach activities undertaken by the PBA were the visit to the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa, and the trip to Boys Town in Tanay in a tieup with UNICEF.

There have been countless others before, including immersion activities held prior to the games held in the provinces.

As for the 34th season theme song by Sugarfree, the title is “Atin ‘To,” which the league is still currently using as its tagline.

Jin Young Choi, for his part, would like to be kept updated on the condition of Barangay Ginebra top gun Mark Caguioa.

As of Nov. 24, Kings assistant coach Allan Caidic said Mark’s condition is still day to day and they can’t really say exactly when he would be ready to report back for action. It’s his old knee injury that’s bothering him.
